September Newsletter

Welcome to our second newsletter for Continuum 13.  We are busy working away getting everything behind the scenes up and running for next year.  We hope to have some exciting news for you next month, including sneak peeks of our new website and art for C13.

We will be raising prices on the 1st October so get in now if you still want to buy tickets at the early bird rate.

Got a topic you’d love to see discussed at Continuum 13? Or that you want to discuss yourself? We’re always taking suggestions for panels, presentations, workshops and other events — email your ideas to
programming@continuum.org.au

We also want to remind everyone that as the Natcon this year, Continuum members are eligible to vote in the Ditmars!  You can see a list of eligible works at
http://wiki.sf.org.au/2017_Ditmar_eligibility_list
so you can start reading now and get an idea of who you would like to nominate later. (Not able to attend Continuum 13 but want to participate in the Ditmars? A Continuum 13 Supporting Membership gives non-attendees Ditmar voting rights).

We are pleased to announce a special deal for a critique workshop with with World Fantasy award winning author Angela Slatter. As a part of the workshop you will submit a short story of up to 5000 words for critique and discussion (deadline extended to Sunday 25 September). Each participant will be expected to read and provide some feedback on the workshop pieces provided by other participants and will receive feedback in turn, including from Slatter herself. The workshop will be better suited to writers who have at least one prior publication.

Special offer for Continuum members: Enter “continuum” at checkout for a $50 discount!

As for our own events: we’re having a picnic on the 23rd October at Edinburgh Gardens in Fitzroy. We’ll meet at midday and stay as long as we want! There is an option for a Pokéwalk afterwards, but that’s entirely optional. Bring some food, drink, something to sit on, UV protection, and whatever else you want for a picnic!

There’s still time to talk about the table read of Terry Pratchett’s Wyrd Sisters, adapted for the stage by Stephen Briggs, on the 15th of October, too.

If you’re interested in either of the above, email events@continuum.org.au
